Our Story

Ehrhardt Hall Bed and Breakfast Inn was founded by Frank and Shirley Ogle in 1998. Back then, Frank worked in corporate America. When his wife Shirley wanted to start a bed and breakfast, he agreed. Together, they built a quaint yet sophisticated inn that blended modern accommodations with traditional values.

To this day, we continue our custom of providing exceptional service. This is the reason why our lodge has stayed open for this long. Frank’s wife, Shirley, attends to the needs of every guest and ensures everyone feels at home.

Our attentive hosts welcome and serve a diverse range of people simultaneously. Most people who stay with us are perfectly satisfied with their experience. In fact, the majority of our clients return to our bed and breakfast for their next vacation.

Reviews From Our Happy Clients

Lovely Place to Relax!
“This was our first B&B experience, and Shirley and Frank did not disappoint! Such a lovely home, and their service and extra touches made it even more memorable. One of our favorite features was the gorgeous front porch! I could have sat there all day, and it still would not have been enough. The rooms were so comfy and quiet. I slept like I was at home, which never happens in a motel for me! Definitely worth any out-of-route miles to enjoy this little gem!”

Wonderful Hospitality!
“This is a beautiful home, and Shirley and Frank were wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious, from the chateaubriand to the crepes for breakfast. Wish we had been able to spend more time just relaxing and talking to them, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely return.”

Ehrhardt Hall
“I loved Ehrhardt Hall... very quaint and full of history... Shirley and Frank are very personable and make great pancakes. I loved the stories of the history of that place. Mike immediately wanted to get out his metal detector! The beds are comfortable, and the price is right! I will stay there again…”

Accommodations
“Three-night stay was a wonderful experience. Charming old house with decor to match. Frank and Shirley were excellent hosts. Frank is extremely handy, and Shirley is a good cook. Although this was our first experience at a B&B, we will go back again.”

Home Away From Home
“This is a lovely B&B located exactly halfway between our home and our daughter's home. We have stayed here three times, and we have thoroughly enjoyed the stay each time. Shirley and Frank are such good hosts and excellent cooks. I have gluten intolerance, and last time I came, Shirley had baked bread that was especially for me. We recommend this place without reservations. We hope to take the rest of our family there someday.”

The Best Place I Have Ever Stayed!!!
“The pictures in no way do this place justice. It was so cute and nice. So many cool antiques and stuff to look at. The owners were great. They told us all about the history of the place and the renovations they were making. They talked with you when you wanted them to and stayed out of your hair the rest of the time. My husband and I were celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary, and so we got the candle-lit dinner in our room. It was delicious! And so inexpensive too. It was better than most restaurants…”

Relaxing, Exquisite B&B and Exquisite Hosts
“I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Ehrhardt Hall. I was visiting Fairfax on business, and this was a perfect location. I was in the Augusta Room, which was impeccably clean and very cozy. Working fireplace, excellent Wi-Fi, very comfortable bed. I was welcomed warmly by Shirley and Frank upon a later arrival. I enjoyed an elegantly dressed table every morning and in the evenings when I dined there. The food was superb - I highly recommend the shrimp and grits with andouille sausage! I plan to stay here on business again, and for a real vacation sometime in the near future! A great find and an amazing bargain…”

A Wonderful Place to Stay
“I had the pleasure of staying at Ehrhardt Hall for the weekend. I was visiting Ehrhardt for a family reunion, and I can say had the pleasure of staying in this extraordinary B&B. Frank and Shirley were wonderful and most accommodating hosts. The home was very clean and very spacious. Due to travel difficulties, I did not arrive until after 2 AM. Shirley was up and most graciously welcomed us into her establishment. The food was excellent, as was the service. I do look forward to my next visit.”

The Best When Away From Home
“When trying to find a comfort level that you would only expect at home, you must see and visit what I feel is one of the best B&B's in the U.S. Lots of room, comfortable beds, great food—what more can you ask for? Add to that the fact that the proprietors, Shirley and Frank, will do all that they can to ensure your comfort.”

Two Months of Southern Hospitality
“While on business in Bamberg, I had the pleasure of spending almost two months with Frank and Shirley. This was the first time I had stayed at a B&B in the States, and I came away feeling that this was better than any European B&B that I had stayed in. I stayed in the Drayton library room, which more than served my needs. The room was clean and quiet. Frank and Shirley were more than gracious, and the breakfast they prepared was fresh and filling. Dinner was as good as any 5-star restaurant…”

Just Like Home but Better!
“I stayed for business travel but am considering coming back again later in the year for a personal trip heading toward Savannah. This was a beautiful B&B. I loved how it was decorated, the rates are very reasonable, the food was great, and I felt very welcome staying here. The hosts were very attentive to my needs while still respecting my space and privacy. It was perfect.”

Southern Hospitality Redefined
“I stayed at this lovely B&B for six weeks in the summer. Frank and Shirley are wonderful hosts and even better cooks! The charm of the old South lives in this home that the owners are restoring. Wonderful furnishings and very clean and neat. I stayed in the Honeymoon suite, which was always kept clean and neat. There were a number of repeat customers who came through the home while I was there and they all spoke very highly of their previous experiences. It’s a little off the beaten path but worth it. A weekend getaway with Frank & Shirley's cooking is well worth the effort…”
